Lost ID. What are the risks?

I have a State ID that i had recently lost. It wasn't on purpose, Just got misplaced. I have no idea where the thing is at, But its not a Drivers license. Just proof of who i am. What are my risks? How can i get away from these risks? Can i prevent them from happening? Sorta scared. Don't know what to do at this point.. Besides hope it pops up somewhere sometime.
