I thought he valued me did i not mean anything at all to him what should i do please help !?

last sunday i ended my friendship with a guy i was very close to. hes lied a lot and i helped him financially and with work and he never appreciated any of it. recently he got himself into bother and got scammed by a girl he met online and again lied that he lent her no money. i feel like ****. i really liked him a lot and would have helped in any way i could. in the end i had to end it but now i feel hollow and hurt that he accepted it so easily. didnt he care at all what will happen now ?
